Un-united Europe

by Dimitris Mourtzopoulos

Mr. Hercules Sklavis is a 90 yeas old, retired dentist. He lives in Drama, a small provincial town on the north of Greece and he is a fervent communist. During the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s, he shoots several Super8 films about family and social life of northern Greece. He also shoots many trips across European countries. At that time the only way to reach the west of Europe was through Yugoslavia. The short film shows the way the Greeks saw the Europeans and vice versa, the perception of Yugoslavia in the 60’ as well as the current political situation in countries of the former Soviet Union.
